italk
I just applied for my first real job! It is at Best Buy as Geek Squad Tech. what should I do next like for the interview? And any other aspects you think are important.
enigma#
Look for positive aspects about yourself but don't ever over-inflate them to the point of deceit Make sure to get there early for the interview Make sure you're ready for any questions that they have for you, practise them (if you go to workopolis or many work-sites, they offer many typical questions interviewers ask) If this is of a technical nature, be prepared for them as well. Never ever ask about pay or benefits unless they explicitly ask. Usually you don't need to worry about that, but you think they will, research the market average against experience (if it's your first time for a job, don't expect industry average). Relax and don't worry about messing up because chances are, if you are overly anxious, you'll mess up :/ (self-defeating unfortunately) Hope it helps
Slophole
well really just answer the questions and stay confident. dress nicely (not like in a suit or anything) and make eye contact (if you look in between their eyes it looks like you are making eye contact...dont forget to blink. and when they ask why you are better than "the other guy who applied" have a reasonable answer cause most likey nobody applied (i used to hire people at a telemarketing firm) good luck bro
Cal45
most likey nobody applied I highly doubt that in this economy.

Wingless
Geek Squad? *shudder* That pretty much summed it up. Slacks and a Polo (especially because it's hot) are fairly standard for that type of job's interview. Make sure you go over some common interview questions on above mentioned sites. BE PROFESSIONAL AND DON'T FIDGET IN YOUR SEAT. Oh, and it's a good idea to know a little something about the company you're interviewing for. Especially since that could have some bearing on "where do you you see yourself in 5 years?"
Papa John
I thought you had to be 18 and older to apply for Geek Squad... ^^ This, you are aware you can't lie on a job application right? @Thread Thread - The real question is going to be are you qualified, being tech support is alot harder then just turning the computer on....
