When admins kick or ban a player from one of our servers, it is crucial to have a legitimate reason entered. Since Staff and Council can not have eyes on every server at every hour of the day, it is important for legitimate reasons to be posted on kicks and bans so that we are able to identify what the player has done wrong. This is especially important when we need to go back through a player's ban history to determine appropriate punishment. Kicking: When kicking a user from the server, it's important to put a legitimate reason. A user should understand why they are being kicked from the server, they shouldn't come back to the server with no idea why they were kicked in the first place. Unlike banning users from the server, when kicking a user, it isn't necessary to surround the reason with quotes. Example: !kick Clark please don't freekill = Kick Reason: please don't freekill !kick Clark "please don't freekill" = Kick Reason: "please don't freekill" Banning: When banning a user from the server, it is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL to post a legitimate ban reason. As stated above, we use this information in the future and without a proper ban reason entered today, we can't determine proper punishment tomorrow. If it is necessary to ban a user from the server and the ban reason is more than one word, the ban reason needs to be surrounded by quotes. If the ban reason is not surrounded by quotes, it will show up on sourcebans as the first word listed after the ban time. Example: !ban Clark 120 please don't freekill = Ban Reason: please !ban Clark 120 "please don't freekill" = Ban Reason: please don't freekill ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The kick/ban reasons "fuck you, retard, moron, stfu, gtfo, later" will not fly anymore. If a ban shows up on sourcebans with an illegitimate ban reason, the player will be unbanned from our servers and the banning admin will be spoken with. General Red Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 The gmod server has a problem when you kick/ban the menu for bans wont list a reason, and the kick only has certain reasons such as minge, reatard, idiot, etc. Just letting you know gmod admins use those sometimes because thats all that can be done.
