Oreo
Hey guys! A couple days ago this orginization called Invisible Children came into my school and did this presentation etc. We started a group/club thing up to raise money for this orginization. What this group, IC, does is help with child soldiers in Africa. They've helped pass bills about it, rescued children, and given them a better life. Our school group is aiming to raise $5,000. So heres a link to where you can donate to the group, and help me, and a good cause out. Don't have to donate much if you do want to donate, just a couple of bucks... If your interested, click on the link, if not, dont bother with it:) just remember i love you all;) <3 umm, i dont know if im aloud to do this or not, so if not, tell me and ill remove it, or if im gone and you want it off, just get rid of it:) http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise/ic-team?ftid=1184 Also, the link gives a lot more information on invisible CHildren and what they're about Edited September 15, 2011 by Oreo

ttaM
Check out the organization Falling Whistles, based on events happening in the Republic of Congo. The Invisible Children's cause has been circulating for quite some time now, and while they in no way deserve less attention I think it's time for people to look out to other organizations and use your grassroots "powers" to have them get noticed too. http://www.fallingwhistles.com/ If you need any further information about the organization let me know and I can provide it for you. Awwik
I did a invisible children donation drive once. It was a 30 hour famine where we did not eat for thirty hours. Many children and adults acros the continent of Africa do not eat for days at a time. The famine was to show how terrible it is, for every hour we didn't eat we had people give us money. We raised 10k to the cause. It was awesome and it showed how much 6 teens can do to change this planet. Keep up the great work dude and god bless. Richie
My high school is doing a program called "Kids against Hunger". We raise about $35,000 and then after that, we order the stuff to package up and make one meal. Last year we got about 300,000 meals. We shipped them to Camaroon, Africa. This year we are sending the food to Haiti. This is a great cause, yet we have starving children in the U.S. I don't understand why we aren't helping ourselves before we help others. Don't get me wrong, this is a great thing, but yet odd that we aren't helping the starving kids in our own back yard!

If they don't have enough money for food, it means that their parents are wasting the money that they receive and we have a whole different problem there. If they don't have enough money for food, it means that their parents are wasting the money that they receive and we have a whole different problem there. How can you blame that on the kid's themselves? I understand that there are welfare problems like that where parents just go out and don't buy food, they just buy more drugs and alcohol. I'm just saying, why penalize the kids here? It's not their fault that their parents are addicts. It is "enabling the parent" to just do more activities and such that isn't beneficial to the children. I'm saying it should go to places that actually give it to the kids and not money to the actual parents.

I was just stating an answer as to why not as many people care about our domestic situation.
