For Jessica Nolte, winning a $2,000 gaming computer was beyond her wildest dreams.

Nolte, 22, an avid PC gamer and 2008 Waverly-Shell Rock graduate, said one of her gaming friends notified her of the contest offered by on the Facebook site of PDXLAN, an independent gaming and hardware community.

A total of 14,000 entries were submitted, but Nolte found out on May 21 that she was the winner.

"I was just astonished," said Nolte recently when she got the parts shipped to her. "I'm still in shock today."

By day, Nolte works in fast food, but once home from work she enjoys online first person shooter games like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Modern Warfare 3 and Half-Life.

Nolte lately has been spending most of her time playing Counter-Strike under her handle HG | JessicaJoy.

"I get home and get in pajamas, and it just relaxes me blowing someone's head off," Nolte said with a laugh.

Nolte, an aspiring portrait photographer, also enjoys time her mom, Sheri, as well as her brother, Andrew, and two younger sisters, Amanda, 7, and Anna, 5.

Nolte said she is eager to stop using her old Gatewat desktop she got in 2008 and play more recent games such as L.A. Noire or run older games with graphic settings on high.

The first step for her though is to assemble the high quality gaming components, including a gaming keyboard, mouse and high quality graphics card and processor.

To do that, she said she would reach out to friends in her online gaming community, some of whom live in Wisconsin.

"They're like my second family," she said.

In the future, Nolte said she would like to continue developing her interests in photography and maybe get a job in the gaming industry, but for now will continue enjoying gaming.

"This is like winning the lottery to me," she said. "$2,000 worth of gear is great."
