Regarding The Use Of Certain Words

I understand that discriminatory words based on race are banned (such as n****r, even n***a for some reason). HG admins will kick/mute/ban players for using those words, saying those words, or playing music with those words.

I don't have an issue with that (though rap music with the word n***a is a stretch...).

I have an issue where those same HG admins (don't recall whom) will willfully say over mic and in chat words that are derogatory against sexual orientations, such as fa****.

Is there a skip with logic in this? Racist terms are banned but derogatory words like fa**** are permitted and even said freely by admins.

I'd either like to see a full enforcement of this logic or a full non-enforcement of this logic.

Thank you.

We have a zero-tolerance rule for racism. If all derogatory terms (such as fa****) were banned, myself and 99% of this community would be banned. We've had this suggestion before, and with how words such as 'fa****' are thrown around, it would be a pain to enforce.

They should not be calling that to someone if they dont like it.

But then again its not banned either, take it or leave it.

If someone is saying that to disrespect someone, warn them not to do it and if they still continue make a report here with proof HG Bans

fa**** has become an ambiguous term to describe both a homosexual person or in this case a negative event, person etc...

Both connotative definitions however are not equable in what you're suggesting.

I'm not saying that saying 'fa****', 'fag' and such words are inherently ok to do... but what I'm saying is you may want to take more interest in the context of things.

Personally, I am not offended by the usage of 'fa****' or 'fag' (given context).

This is a personal viewpoint coming from experience helping this community for about 2-3 years and being a grey-A myself who happens to like men and women. I know not all queer people would agree with me on this issue.

Like any admin/forum mod should do is to take into consideration the context of it before assuming homophobia or 'heterosexism'.

The latter two concepts are more problematic than this equation of two connotative definitions as one in the same. [i.e. fa**** = homosexual == something negative, bad, or stupid]

In regards to the whole racial slur usage, this has been a rule for a long time. Homosexual/queer rights have only really started becoming a focus in our real world.

Once again, if you attribute 'racial slur' to 'homophobic slur' and parallel the two distinct concepts in value, you are looking at a slippery slope.

At the end of the day, if you personally get offended at a term and no one else is, are we really going anywhere? Or is it just your interpretation of the events and statements...?
