Types of Admin

  • Basic (Paid) Admin
The admin that can be purchased via the website here.

Basic admins should ONLY use the following commands: (although they may access to more commands, they shouldn't use them)

Console Command - Non Console Command - Structure of Command

Please Note: For the ingame commands you do not have to include the sm_ in the command, simply just type !kick or !ban. However in the console, sm_ban or sm_kick MUST be used.

    sm_slap - (!slap Blade 100) - sm_slap (their name) (damage amount)

    sm_tlist - (!Tlist Blade ) - sm_Tlist (their name or SteamID)
(Jailbreak only - default time of 2 hours. Please make a report after you use this command Here. )

    sm_beacon - (!beacon Blade) - sm_beacon (their name)

    sm_adminspray - (!adminspray Blade) - sm_adminspray (their name)

    sm_ban - (!ban Blade 120 Freekill)*3 - sm_ban (their name) (duration in MINUTES) (Reason)

sm_say - (@ "Hello, this is your Admin speaking) - @ (For admin to player speak, e.g warnings)

Under no circumstance should a Basic admin use any other commands than these. The abuse of higher level commands will lead to removal of admin and/or demotion.

*1- Gag disables a player from typing. !ungag is the reversible command

*2- Silence disables a player from both, speaking and typing. !unsilence is the reversible command.

*3- Any admin should NOT ban for more than 120 minutes without proof. (You MUST have proof if banning for over 120 minutes.)

    Advice (Please read)
    • Common Sense - Just because a player says that another playwe has broken the rules doesn't mean it's true or untrue. I'd advise spectating the player for a few rounds (minimum of 3) to see if they are indeed breaking the server rules.

    • Maturity - (This one goes directly to Jailbreak admins) Trash talk IS allowed. Although granted, some players will find some terms more offensive than others remember that IT IS ONLY A GAME. Do not take anything personally.

    • Responsibility - You are an admin of the server. It is your duty to catch rule breakers or players that are affecting gameplay. Do not ignore players, regardless of age. Just because they're 13 or sound about 5 doesn't mean they can't play. Of course if a player is under the age of 13 they shouldn't legally be playing the game so they're on the game at their own risk.

    • Abuse - (Jailbreak admins specifically) Admins should ONLY stick to their designated commands as listed above. Any admin found using forbidden commands risks removal of admin and/or demotion. Do not unmute yourself whilst dead, do not randomly slap players and don't teamswitch yourself if the teams are already stacked. Slapping people randomly, abusing commands to gain an advantage and freeslaying are all serious offences.

    • Hackers and/or Extreme Cases - Hackers are subject to more than the 120 minute ban. Meaning basic admins can ban them for longer if needed. If no proof can be attained then the player shall be unbanned. Extreme cases include constant spamming, racism or personal attacks. Racists should be banned on the spot, spammers should be warned and players that are making very personal digs at admins or other players should be kicked in order to cool off.

    • Teamwork - Admins have their own chat for a reason. DO NOT dispute actions in normal chat or the Admin-to-player chat. To access the admin chat, simply:
      -Press u (in game)
      -Type @@ (before your message)
-Type your message. e.g @@ Why did you do that?

    • Arguing With Other Admins/Players - If you feel a fellow admin isn't follow the correct rules, DO NOT take actions into your own hands. Take the proper steps to make an abuse report. You are not allowed to use your admin commands on other admins.

Any ban lasting over 120 minutes WITHOUT proof may be revoked.

A ban request or report can be posted here using this template.

If you are found abusing your admin then we will exercise the right to remove it without refund.

By reading this you should have everything you need for any problem you encounter.

Also you are not allowed to use your admin powers against another fellow admin, if you have an issue of what they did get proof of their action, post it here on here forums and we will deal with it acordingly.

UPDATE (9/12/2010): Apparently, the new thing in servers is msay use. I understand the allure of it's use, however, because of it's abuse and overuse in certain servers, it's unfortunately from now on, going to be restricted. It should only ever be used for a situation that specifically calls for it. And because I can't think of any right now, that should probably give you a hint on how often it should be used. If I really need to, I'll just start removing admin because of it. But, honestly, do you really want to lose your admin over something that idiotic?

Or can we use msay again?

also tl;dr

sm_slap - (!sm_slap Blade 100) - sm_slap (their name) (damage amount)

Great tutorial.

Few clarifications/additions:

For the non-console commands, an admin can use "!slap" or "!sm_slap". Both should work. The same goes for the rest of the non-console commands.

There are 8 types of chat (or message delivery):

1. Team chat: hit the letter u and type your message

2. Public chat: hit letter y and type your message

3. Public chat 2: hit y, type @ followed by your message (equivalent to sm_say or !say)

4. Private chat: hit y, type @@ followed by player's name (or partial name) followed by your message. For example after you hit y, type: @@ -hg- x_file D2DM rules!

Typing @@ x_file will also work so long as no one else has the string "x_file" as part of their name. If someone else does have that string, they too will receive the message.

5. Admin chat: hit u, and type @@ followed by your message. Or hit u and type @ followed by your message. Both are identical.

6. sm_msay / !msay: pops up a radio-box on the left side of the screen with your name and your message. See Blade's post for command usage.

7. sm_csay / !csay: displays your name and message in white letters slightly above the center of the screen. The color of the text can be specified - the default color is white... and often hard to read. See Blade's post for command usage.

8. sm_hsay /!hsay: similar to #6 except the radio-box is on the bottom center of the screen.

Players or (non admins) can only use chat 1, 2 & 5.

Personal preference: I like to use the console for my admin stuff. For one I can recall the last command I entered by hitting the up arrow key. Also, the console only outputs the command argument, where as the in-game chat (or non-console) outputs the command as well. If you make a mistake on the command, everyone one the server will know (if they are paying attention)
