Papa John Posted July 19, 2012 Share Posted July 19, 2012 A little preface: McDonalds is holding, at least in our area, a promotion that if you meal takes longer then 60 seconds from payment to the drive-in window then your meal is free... So clearly So the first day I saw this it took 2 minutes for them to do this (timed on my phone from when I paid them to when I drove up to the window and got food), so I told the person at the window who preceded to stare at me like I was some kindof moron. For another minute we went back and forth about the fact that there was a fucking sign in the drive through that said you get your meal in 60 seconds or less. She then brought a manager who said yes we have that sign but it is only between the hours of 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. So fair enough, but I will be back. Skip forward a few days and its 12:50pm, and I am ordering from the same place again with the same sign. Once again I time using my phone as I had before and once again it took 2 minutes. This time I knew there could be no excuse, I was within the timeframe and both my phone and the receipt showed that it had been at least over a minute. So once again I told the lady at the window that it had taken over 60 seconds, she stared at me for a second, talked to someone, and then came back with the most BS answer I have ever heard... YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR A FUCKING HOURGLASS AT THE PAYMENT WINDOW So fuck McDonalds. And if you ever decide to try the 60 seconds or less challenge be sure you have the magical amulet of imminent diabetes before you ask for your free food... Usually, we have a timer the second we put in the order. Its usually like 20 sec to take order, like 15 sec for money, and like 15 sec to give the food out. The moment the order is paid for, we can clear it off of the computer and it records that time. So when I work the window, I memorize the orders so that we keep our times down. Its all about keeping our times low. We could have cleared the order before you got to the final window. But that hourglass thing is fucking stupid though. But, its interesting why they chose that time. Thats lunch rush, so we usually have one person on fries. If you are waiting for food, its the fries. Cause the cooks have no issue with the food, but sometimes you get a fucking dumbass that doesn't drop fries and makes the line back up (that usually happens later in the day).
