EtherealHope
So, let me explain the situation first. During a random opinionated day, -hg- a nonºαQº (being lead CT of the day) called on me and told me to come on the Big Cage sign as usual and then told me to come to the Deagle Cage. He then proceeded to tell me that if I could tell him the amount of boxes on the Big Cage (outside the Big Cage, the boxes made by the bars), he would give me a freeday and LR for that day. So, I then proceeded to count. And, here are my calculations: *Looking at it from the entrance* ((((7x57)x2)+41+21)x2) ^Right side ^Factors in Left side since they are the same (I did double check this too) ((24x6) x2) ^Front ^Factors in both sides of front (Again, double checked) (78x9) ^Back *Actual equation* ((((7x57)x2)+41+21)x2)+((24x6)x2)+(78x9)= (((((399)x2)+62)x2)+((144)x2)+(702)= ((798+62)x2)+(288)+(702)= (858x2)+(288)+(702)= (1716)+(288)+(702)= (2706)= Therefore, there are 2706 boxes made by the bars on the outside of Big Cage. So, if you are doing a trivia day and don't know a question to ask them for the final question before they pick their LR partner or if you just want to mess with their heads, Merry Christmas. If you guys have any other random measurements that you have calculated in the Jailbreak map that people can use in trivia days, you can feel free to post it here. Thanks for reading and I hope to see you all in Jailbreak!
a non
LUL, you fricken nerd XD My new favorite day: How many squares are on big cage?
JJK
they are rectangular shapes from a 2d texture that have been stretched to fit big cage (transparent center) some of the 'sqaures' are cut of and form a slanted edge instead of a right angle u sure you got them all

EtherealHope
Well first off, may I say LMAO @ Red's reply. Lol. That's too funny man. Also, @ JJK... ^ If you are talking about the hidden triangles that are hidden under the roof's hinges, then yes. If this isn't what you are talking about, would you mind to more clearly explain what you mean? *Correction, I did not calculate the "surface area" per say but I did count the boxes with angles at the top of them (like the right most triangle is pointing at) as just a whole box, if that makes sense. Edited May 30, 2012 by Z3113_Jasper HAd a correction. Is marked by the *.

enigma#
Definition of a box, otherwise this is ambiguous. I'd rather do pixels as it is more of an accurate reflection (since most pixels are 'squares') of big cage =]
EtherealHope
Lol. Well eNiGMa, my definition of a box on the Big Cage (as a non wanted me to count) is one enclosed 2d shape that is made by the bars on the Big Cage. That's how I took it and that's how I measured it. And by the way, I refused to even TRY to calculate the surface area of ANYTHING in CS:S (including the vents) because I have no way of comparing the length, width and height of the objects to the actual measurements of the real world. If someone else has a decent way of doing this, please feel free and share any measurements you find. Lol. And if they make sense and seem to be legit, I will give you all of my gang points. Have fun. Oh, and eNiGMa, the pixel idea, good luck with that.

I'll give it a try let's see if I can find the folder with the textures for the top of big cage, calculate the number of textures drawn on it the map (if I can load the map with dev mode) Take a screenshot on (1920x1200) - (non bigcage) @ x DPI (where x dpi is the texture dpi) then multiply the variables together. I'll get the total resolution since we're working on a 2dimensional surface =
