Thanks man! Really miss her. That Civic will do 400k easy, as long as you take care of her. And when the engine goes, you can get another one for $800 from Japan. I've had a few Civics. Love 'em.

Methinks JarJar needs to have his stuff checked out. Looks like he's nibblin' on some blood-tipped poo.

Just sold the Lotus and Integra, so now down to just the 2 cars and the one motorcycle now. Getting out of debt is both fun and depressing. I'll buy another Lotus in a couple of years. Or maybe a Tesla by then.

Ok, how much of a PITA was this job? About how long did it take, start to finish?

Severe Unknown Server Problem Cs:s
ELK replied to topic's loadedmind in Game Server Management & Development
Ruthless> Can you please provide the stats for those of us not privy to view? Also, this is one of the main reasons I was attempting to glean the data I've requested in the past regarding the CS:S Virtual Server. I'd be more than willing to go through whatever screening process may be necessary to ensure my legitimacy. As a concerned HG member, it pains me, knowing what I know, not being able to verify certain system information to help isolate/rule out whatever issues may be happening. ELK> Your tracert proves the connection between your host and the HG host is well within the threshold and is actually better than average, but I sincerely appreciate you providing that info. This is a case where too much info is never a bad thing. To answer your question regarding capabilities of the NIC, you can absolutely change flow control settings via ethtool (I believe the server is running Ubuntu). Unfortunately, there isn't enough evidence to rule out whether flow control is the issue. The path I'd pursue first (path of least resistance) is to see whether the hosting provider has other similarly spec'ed hardware providing CS:S hosting for other groups. If not, perhaps the much-needed additional information can be provided to help us help them. Additionally, I'd also like to verify other hardware specs of the machine hosting CS:S and, if I remember correctly, whether hosting additional content on the server (which I believe I remember was the case) may be causing unexpected phenomena. The issue is that this is all pure conjecture until more information can be made known regarding server hardware, network info from the server to the 'Net, etc. Since I do Linux system administration for a living, I can definitely help with the list of commands that would provide this level of information to help resolve/rule out whatever may be causing the jitter. For starters, assuming sar has been installed and enabled, it'd be good to get some trending info. This, along with iostat, iowait, a "while true" script to track Steam's PID activity over a period of time: Ex. while true; do printf "`date` : " >> /var/log/css_resourcemonitor.txt; top -bn1 | awk 'IGNORECASE = 1;/steam*/; {print $9}' >> /var/log/css_resourcemonitor.txt ; sleep 30; done Show NIC stats: ethtool -S DEVNAME (ex eth0) - Note: this command can be used to change speed/duplex, but exercise caution, aka test on dev before rolling to prod free -go along with smem (need to install from source - provides more accurate memory map of Linux servers than free) This is just a start, but should help get a glimpse of what's happening with the server at the point where registry starts becoming an issue. It might be worthwhile to setup a non-pub server purely for the purposes of testing if sufficient players can join to reproduce the problem. These people would need to be a bit patient in order to allow folks to "tail -f" live. -

My full time job is a Sr Linux Sysadmin. I've trained companies as a crash course in Linux Fundamentals so holler if you'd like to discuss Linux/Open Source.

Personally, I love my TL so much that I'll replace the engine when it dies. They're $800 on eBay. Lastly, do you wrench on your own cars or do you usually take it to a shop?

Help: Booting Hard Drives In A Different Machine
mcwillzz replied to topic's loadedmind in General Tech Talk
Honestly, your best bet is to take data from all drives and select what data you need to restore. Put that information in a centralized location. Pull said data back onto freshly built machine and call it a day. From there, you can use something like VMware's Standalone Converter to convert if needed either individually or the aggregate of all machines in question. The OS is expecting certain hardware from the previous physical machines to boot. It doesn't see it. So it freaks out.- 1 reply

approved (Counter-Strike Source) Loadedmind's Recruit Application

-hg- Clan Application Game Division Counter-Strike Source In-Game Name loadedmind Location Fresno, TX How old are you? 43 Which games (servers) do you play on? 67.228.245.2 - CS_Office Deathmatch How long have you been playing on our servers? 6 months What is your Steam ID / GUID? 1:387575539 Why do you want to join HG? I play on the server a lot because the latency is decent and the mods have the same mindset as I do. I'd like to be an Admin as it'd be more convenient to be able to take care of players who hack before they become too detrimental to the server and lose players that may not want to come back. All members are required to be on our TeamSpeak3 Server whenever playing on our servers. Will you agree with this rule? Yes Who (if anyone) referred you to apply? Alienware Any other information you want to include? Linux Systems Administrator with NASA. Perhaps I can help with server tweaks or anything else related. -
Hello everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas. I go by loadedmind on the servers. Usually can be found on cs_office 24/7 server in CS:Source. Laptop doesn't have the oomph for source. I've been playing CS for longer than I can remember and just now came back after a long hiatus. I went by DWO, DeathWarmedOver and belonged to various orgs over the years. Working as a Linux sysadmin and I'm open to folks needing help with all things relevant to system administration, if you're so inclined. I'm a gear head, REALLY enjoy wrenching on bikes/cars and anything outdoors. I'm still trying to re-learn most of the things I've forgotten, which is admittedly quite a lot, so, if I ask a question, it's probably because Google wasn't kind or I don't know the right buzz word to search for. Since I'm on the cs_office and de_dust2 servers quite a bit, I'm wondering if any of you may have a need for an admin or how one goes about requesting such a thing. I just moved back to my home town in Houston a couple of years ago so if any of you are in the neighborhood, drop me a line and the first round is on me. Take care!
